Quick facts

Party: The Cacklers · Background: Thief and job-runner · Family: Will (husband), Ruby (daughter) · Status: Alive (as of Campaign 1.5)

Juliette is a founding member of The Cacklers, a former thief with a long list of shady contacts. She joined the quest grieving a husband and daughter killed by the Rose Ribbon Army, and ended Campaign 1 walking back through the door to both of them.

Overview

Juliette is the party’s lockpick, pickpocket and scout, which means she is also the one who usually trips the alarm. Her hair was red until a card from the Deck of Many Things turned it bright pink and knee length; only a wish can change it back. She carries a glove from Bulma Briefs set with a blue crystal that lets her throw Voltaic Bolt.

History

Campaign 1

Recruitment. The Ox-Queen summoned Juliette because of her past jobs and her recent loss. Master Toshi gave her a pair of scouter lenses and talked with her about her grief. At Fortuneteller Yaba’s palace she fought Sgt. Major Maroon, the dragonborn who had killed her husband and daughter, and then kept him distracted while Yaba named the Star Orb locations.

The Meo job. Juliette came out of the Toasty portal in Ostenkask, Beerlia, and ran into Meo, an old associate. He hired her to help steal a magically sealed vase from a floating Turtle Island, then paid her more than promised. She spent the night with him (nothing happened, to Meo’s disappointment), and Elyon walked in the next morning to find him feeding her strawberries. Juliette bought a portable hole with the money. Later in North City, Elyon learned that Meo was the Thorned Rose and that Juliette had worked the job with him that killed Elyon’s mother, which opened a rift between the two.

Buttermilk. With Terra and Oolong, Juliette went under the sea at Buttermilk. A mermaid offered them a back route through the temple, and in exchange Juliette promised to carry a crystal apple to the mermaid’s sister off the coast of Toasty. She was knocked out when Grand Admiral Blue ambushed them in the tunnels. That night she dreamed of The Trickster.

The tournament and the Collector. In the battle royale Juliette fell into an icy river twice and was hunted by Maroon until Master Toshi helped her escape. With Terra she confronted the Collector’s Gems and learned they were bound to the Collector by contract. In West City she tripped an alarm while picking Meo’s cell lock, found the Deck of Many Things in an old hideout, and tracked down her old contact Reese at Capsule Corp. When the Gems Sapphire and Ruby ambushed the party, Juliette was one of the first to fall, and when Sophie turned into a Tyrannosaurus and won the fight, Juliette came to and screamed, “Let’s get out of here!”

Scotch on the Rocks. Juliette and Reese went upstairs invisible to search for Ibeesee. In the vaults, she picked the lock on a locker holding a ship in a bottle; the cork shot out and the Rootbeer Float grew back to full size, smashing the other bottled ships. During the North City naval battle she revived Barqs at Sophie’s request. When the enemy ship exploded she was the only one not banished out of the blast and barely survived it. Jebidiah then sold merchandise of her flailing in the water.

Rice Town. During the Rootbeer Float’s fall, Juliette picked a soldier’s pocket and pulled out his portable hole, spilling Star Orbs and gold. In Grimscale Tower a guard spotted her and shouted, “You’re one of them cacklers, aren’t you?” High Sorcerer Cobalt looted her portable hole, her bow, and her goggles of night while she lay unconscious. She tracked them with Locate Object and carved into the charmed moonstone dragon before it banished her into the dream plane and killed her.

The dream plane. There she saw her husband Will and their three-year-old daughter. Will told her, “It’s okay. We’ll be here for you. We’ll be here when you get back.” She chose to go back. Afterward she told Greene that dying wasn’t the worst part; leaving Will and Ruby felt like “sacrificing them all over again.” When she tried to reach Terra by Sending, a strange voice answered instead: “She cannot hear you. I have finally gained control.”

After Rice Town. Juliette noticed that an infernal tiger who boarded the ship carried energy like the demons in Parmesan Diego. With a rope around her waist she scouted through a portal into a red-and-black realm of lava, turned back when a fire giant came toward her, and pulled the crystal that powered the portal. At the Toasty Desert she delivered the crystal apple, and the mermaid princess was sucked inside it. Juliette had to explain herself to the furious king. During the Raviki heist she chased Raviki by Dimension Door. She also killed Muffin, Oolong’s owl, with a stray eldritch blast: “I wasn’t trying to kill it. I was just trying to.”

Endgame. Juliette handed Bulma the portal device, warned Sophie that the Rose Ribbon Army might be heading toward Cheddar, and ran the divination that located Terra in The FeyWild. At Muscle Tower she failed to revive Sophie with a diamond, which sent Terra over the edge after Isidar. Oolong left her two rings, one engraved “Juliette and Will” and one with the name “Reese” crossed out. With all seven Star Orbs gathered, Juliette made the wish: “Revive all of those that were killed by the Rose Ribbon Army.” After Shenlong revived everyone the army had killed, Juliette took the portal home. Her daughter ran into her arms: “Mommy, I missed you. Where were you? You were gone for hours.”

Campaign 1.5

Twenty years later, Juliette and Will were still together. Their daughter Ruby fought with the Cacklers, and Juliette’s old contact Reese, “Uncle Reese” to Ruby, dropped by now and then but never stayed for dinner (C1.5 Chapter 01). Perfect Cell mocked her after nearly killing Ruby: “What kind of mother sends her daughter out here anyway?” In his radio broadcast he promised to take on all comers, “much like Juliette” (C1.5 Chapter 02). At The Cell Games, Ruby was introduced as “the beautiful daughter of the one and only Juliette” (C1.5 Chapter 03).

Campaign 2

Juliette herself is not named in the Campaign 2 record through Session 83. Her daughter Ruby is a member of the Cacklers in North City.
