Quick facts

Role: Founder and manager of the Cackler Barrel · Home: North City · Status: Alive (end of Campaign 1)

Jebidiah is the North City man who went from working for a terrible tavern owner to running the Cackler Barrel, the Cacklers’ surprisingly influential namesake establishment.

History

Spy for Greene

When the party slipped into North City before the tournament, Greene made an ally of Jebidiah, then working under a terrible tavern owner. Jebidiah spied around the city on Greene’s behalf.

The Cackler Barrel

After the party fled West City, they met up with Jebidiah again and learned that his establishment was the Cackler Barrel. He recognized Sophie as the Gem Emerald, hugged Greene, and offered the party residuals from the company, which shocked every Cackler. He led them to a refitted storeroom under the Barrel with three bedrooms, which became their war room. He offered full money and logistical support but made it clear he would not fight the Collector himself: “I prefer to not get caught up with the Collector personally myself because I don’t want to die.”

Right then, The Collector arrived to see him. The Collector talked about “Ginyu Force flavor” franchising opportunities and praised the name “Cackler Barrel.”

Hometown heroes

After the Collector’s death, crowds of screaming young fans mobbed Greene and Oolong outside the Barrel, and Jebidiah asked everyone not to “crowd the famous friends.” He warned that the city would run out of alcohol in a couple of days and that the Cacklers “have to solve this alcohol issue,” or their home base would turn angry. After the naval battle in North City, he was selling T-shirts and tea bag holders showing Juliette flailing in the water.

When the Cacklers came back from the sea hag, Jebidiah told them he had sold the controlling stake in the Cackler Barrel to the “nice young Bulma.”

In Campaign 2

Bulma Briefs is still the controlling owner of the Cackler Barrel, and Jebidiah still runs it. There is also a Cackler Barrel restaurant on the Saline Coast, where Kip showed Ellery a wall picture of a small spiky-haired figure with a monkey tail (Session 5). The North City Barrel hosted Ellery’s confrontation with Prince Vegeta (Session 60), Wilbur’s dinner with Bulma and the attack on Will Jr. (Session 66 and Session 67), and a Velvet Truffle Company strategy meeting in its VIP suite (Session 70 and Session 71).
