Grimscale Tower stands on the ice of Rice Town. Beneath it lay Dr. Gero’s laboratory and factory, where androids and other machines were built.
History
After the Rootbeer Float crashed, Greene set the Brumestone core on a pedestal inside the main structure, where it lit everything around it. The Cacklers fought a machine construct shaped like a living creature, a guard on the spiral stairs, and a whirring machine spinning saw blades in the central hall. A hatch led far down below the ice, past two glass golems, to Gero’s office.
Gero’s notes and diary revealed that the operatives Cyan, Scarlet, and Indigo had been “unsuccessful donors for project Cyborg” and “refitted for other constructions,” and that Greene was a genetically engineered test subject with fabricated memories. A stasis pod held a body labeled “17.” In the factory, a dome-shaped automaton numbered 13 attacked them, and Greene felt an ominous sense of déjà vu.
The tower also held a machine with a large rose-colored crystal that was being used to control dragons. Chandra the Chaotic and High Sorcerer Cobalt confronted the party there. When Terra Misu Umber touched the crystal, a bolt of purple energy took her away. Afterward 17 and 18 told the party Gero had fled to Muscle Tower, Oolong tore out the machine’s wires, and Greene took the crystal (C1 Chapter 12).
