Character art from Dragon Ball (Akira Toriyama / Toei Animation).
Commander Red was the leader of the Rose Ribbon Army and the final villain of Campaign 1. At the top of Muscle Tower he revealed that he was Isidar the Conqueror, whose last reign ended centuries ago.
Overview
For centuries after the last reign of Isidar the Conqueror, Arlia had no global empires or great conquering armies, and its 72 states mostly kept to themselves. The Rose Ribbon Army’s sudden rise in the East changed that.
History
A voice in the dark
Red’s name came up as the Army closed in on the Cacklers. At Grimscale Tower, High Sorcerer Cobalt demanded the Star Orbs for the Rose Ribbon Army and Commander Red. Later, as the Cacklers rested in North City, Red’s words rang straight through Greene’s head: “You will lose.”
Muscle Tower
The Cacklers stormed Muscle Tower to take the last Star Orb, fighting through Recoome and Captain Ginyu before reaching Commander Red at the top. He said he would use the Star Orbs to wish for eternal life and “rule not just Aria, but all plains of existence forever,” and called their defiance “admirable” but futile. Then he revealed that he had been Isidar the Conqueror all along and took his ancient red dragon form: “I am Isidar the Conqueror and with the Star Orbs that you have brought to me, I shall trespass into the domain of the gods!”
The battle was brutal. When Juliette failed to revive Sophie, Terra ran with everything she had, leapt off the tower onto the flying dragon, and swung her axe at Isidar’s head. Isidar died, and as they hit the ground Terra kept swinging long after he was dead.
With all seven Star Orbs gathered, the Cacklers summoned Shenlong and Juliette wished for everyone the Rose Ribbon Army had killed to be revived.
In Campaign 2
In Session 50, while keeping watch on the road to Green Hollow, Nelda and Arghen watched a bright star in the constellation of Isidar the Conqueror flare and then vanish entirely. Arghen took it as a dark omen for the dragon they were hunting. See The Vanishing Stars.
