Quick facts

Type: World · Nation States: 72 · Guardian: Kami · Campaigns: The Wonders of Arlia (Campaign 1), Campaign 2

Arlia is the world where both campaigns take place. It is a lot like Earth in its range of climates and biomes, and it is home to many races, religions, and rival nations.

Geography

Arlia is made up of 72 Nation States. Two main continents lie in the Southern Hemisphere. The Northern Hemisphere is a vast ocean dotted with five smaller island continents. That ocean, and all of Arlia’s seas, is the Grave E. Sea. Both ice caps are, for the most part, habitable, and Rice Town has been pushing its border well into the southern ice cap.

The island nations thrive on tourism from both East and West, and each has its own intrigues and exports, from pasta to alcohol to chocolate. Known island nations include Beerlia, Scotch on the Rocks, and Choco Island. News from the East reaches the West across the Grave E. Sea.

Notable places include:

East and West

People in the West generally accept others of different races and religions, as long as nobody brings violence with them. The one group they dislike is people from the East. The East holds many of the same beliefs and is alike in many ways, but it returns the West’s disdain in equal measure.

History

For centuries after the last reign of Isidar the Conqueror, Arlia had no global empires or conquering armies, and the 72 States mostly kept to themselves. Decades had passed since the last global conflict.

That peace broke when the Rose Ribbon Army appeared near East of East City, ransacking towns and building The Calyx, an alliance of states under its control. Its leader, Commander Red, was revealed to be Isidar the Conqueror himself. The Cacklers destroyed the army and, with Shenlong’s wish, revived everyone it had killed. See The Wonders of Arlia (Campaign 1).

In Campaign 2, the main power at work across the world is the Velvet Truffle Company, a confectionery empire headquartered on Choco Island whose influence reaches governments, ports, and markets.

The heavens

Kami, the guardian of Arlia, created the Star Orbs, which summon the wish dragon Shenlong. Other gods known in the world include The Trickster, the goddess Cyrollellee, and the halfling trickster god Brandoboris.

In Campaign 2 the sky itself started going wrong. Mayor Eliza Windrider’s warning that “the stars aren’t right” turned out to be literal: stars have been vanishing from the constellations, including one in the constellation of Isidar the Conqueror (see The Vanishing Stars). Kip learned from Cyrollellee of a growing war among the heavens, and The Trickster later admitted to starting it (see The War in the Heavens).

Calendar

Months mentioned in the sources include Horisal (the Collector’s tournament began on the 1st of Horisal) and Fessuran.
