Type: Desert region · Landmarks: the Toasty Temple; a mermaid kingdom off its coast
The Toasty Desert held the Toasty Temple, where the Cacklers found their second Star Orb. A mermaid kingdom lies in the waters off its coast.
The Toasty Temple
Fortuneteller Yaba listed the Toasty Desert as one of the Star Orbs’ locations. After reading a book about Toasty from Cherudo Beach, the party headed for the temple. Inside they faced an ettin named Nick Nack, a roper, a flameskull, thirteen giant hyenas, and a lamia before claiming the orb. A portal then opened and carried them, one by one, to Beerlia (C1 Chapter 02).
The mermaid kingdom
At Buttermilk, Juliette promised a mermaid she would deliver a crystal apple to the mermaid’s sister off the coast of Toasty (C1 Chapter 05). The Cacklers later flew toward the desert to keep that promise (C1 Chapter 12). They set the ship down in the water, killed a baby kraken outside the kingdom, and were brought before the court. When Princess Athena touched the apple, it pulled her inside and sped off. Her father, King Triton, made the Cacklers promise to bring her back, and pledged his aid in their war against the “land walkers in the east” if they did (C1 Chapter 13).
