The Saiyans are a people of powerful martial fighters with prehensile monkey tails. Their home planet was destroyed, and a small clan now lives in Arlia under Prince Vegeta.
Traits
- Tails. Saiyans are born with prehensile tails. Outsiders find them strange; a Saline Coast tavern patron declared Ellery’s tail “not of God.” A Saiyan’s tail can grow back after it is cut off.
- Ozaroo. Under an eclipse, real or simulated, a Saiyan with a tail turns into a giant, raging ape. Cutting off the tail reverts them. The Whisper taunted the Saiyans about this hidden physiology.
- Energy. Saiyans can sense the energy of other powerful beings at great distances, and Ellery can follow the “rivers of energy” of people she knows.
- Pride. Ellery gave up the very concept of Saiyan Pride in The In-Between.
- Transformation. When Kale lost control, her eyes turned white, her muscles bulged and her hair turned dark green.
History
The Saiyans’ planet was destroyed by the tyrant Frieza. Ellery was told as a child that a meteor did it when she was five, and learned the truth from the Whisper. Vegeta later admitted that he spared Ellery and Kale as infants because their guardian, Nappa, had a “soft heart.” The Whisper accused Vegeta of executing his race, the Mind Flayers, and Vegeta did not deny it.
Ellery ran away from the clan without telling anyone, and Vegeta sent Caulifla to bring her back. Both set out to find Kakarot, the Saiyan known in Arlia as Goku of The Cacklers. On the Saline Coast, Kip showed Ellery a picture in a Cackler Barrel restaurant that tied Kakarot to the Cacklers (Session 5). When the FAM fled the Bloodhowler, the clan sheltered them but offered no help in the fight. Vegeta gave Ellery a crescent-shaped artifact for emergencies; the Whisper later stole it and used it to turn Ellery, Goku, Vegeta and Gohan into Ozaroo in North City.
Cabba was captured by the VTC while searching a ship for something Vegeta sent him to find, and his energy was used to power Coghaven’s machine until the FAM freed him. Vegeta left for Namek as an emissary to find a new guardian for the Star Orbs, in exchange for a high-gravity training facility on his return.
In Session 62 the FAM sent their families to Nappa’s compound in the desert for safety.
In Campaign 1
Goku appears in Campaign 1 as a small child living on Mount Paozo. On Tappin’ Day in PoorsTown he turned into a giant ape at every eclipse, until the Cacklers found a way to stop him (C1 Chapter 03).
