Quick facts

Campaign: Campaign 2 · Session: 28 of 83 · Arc: Curses, Sewers, and the Closing Ceremonies · Where: Saline Coast, Mercenary’s Rest

In the aftermath of the festival and Ellery’s transformation, the group dealt with the fallout. Wilbur had a tense talk with Kip, trying to set some boundaries and order after the chaos. Nelda had a painful reunion with her parents, freshly released from prison and far from forgiving. Her father, Thalorian, furious and feeling betrayed, disowned her and demanded she return a valuable family heirloom. As they walked away he began berating her mother, and Nelda cast dissonant whispers on him, leaving him with permanent injuries.

Kip’s ex-fiancée, Alana, confronted him with paperwork she said would “release Elby Thistletop and his turnip wagon.” Kip signed it without reading it, and the encounter ended with him running away screaming. To Kip, it was a clear end to their relationship, even if no one said so.

Meanwhile Ellery and Escher had an important conversation with The Whisper. He revealed his tragic past: he was the last of his kind, his people wiped out by a tyrant named Frieza, the same tyrant responsible for destroying Ellery’s home planet. He offered to teach her about her powers in exchange for her help defeating their common enemy, and she accepted.

The group’s attention then turned to the dragon. Arghen, who had been at the Mercenary’s Rest when the party arrived that day, was set on vengeance. He brought a job posting for the recovery of a precious family heirloom from the shipwrecked Sapphire Tide, a mission that might put them face to face with the dragon that attacked it. The group agreed to join him.
