After her “training” with Vegeta, a bruised and battered Ellery rejoined the group. Her clan would not help against the Bloodhowler, but Vegeta had given her the mysterious yellow object, which he said would help if their own strength was not enough. Nodur decided to join the group on their way to warn Wilbur’s family, the Warhorde Clan.
The journey gave them time to reflect. Nelda and Escher talked about the nature of magic, and Nelda showed its playful side by making Kip smell like an onion. That night Nelda was overcome with grief for Squeebles and felt responsible for his death. Ellery comforted her and shared her own insecurities about her lack of social skills and knowledge, and the two bonded over their shared struggles.
Their spirits lifted when Steve returned. Nappa had found him alive at the abandoned tavern where the battle took place. Nappa also served up “sandworm steak,” which disgusted Kip, who said he would rather eat his own shoe. The group finally reached the Warhorde camp, where Wilbur was reunited with his family. He warned his father, the clan’s leader, that the Bloodhowler was coming and urged him to move the camp. His father refused, choosing to stand and fight.
