Squeebles was a small, battered goblin who joined The FAM for a few days, died defending them, and came back as a spirit to save Nelda.
History
Squeebles was the last survivor of the goblin band that ambushed the party on the road. He came to them on a night watch, begging for a “shiny thing” to bring his cruel new leader, Gurgle, so he wouldn’t be tortured again. Gurgle had killed his old tribe. Wilbur impulsively promised to avenge the tribe in exchange for the other piece of a device Squeebles’ group had. Kip distrusted goblins and objected, but the party went along with a half-baked plan to have Squeebles present them as prisoners (Session 15).
After Gurgle’s clan fell, Squeebles pledged loyalty to the party. Kip found him annoying and untrustworthy, while Nelda felt responsible for him and argued he should stay. He offered to cook, but his quick willingness to eat Wilbur in a hypothetical raised red flags, and Nelda woke from her sleep to find him staring at her. In the morning he made scrambled eggs “procured” from local farms (Session 16).
When the Bloodhowler attacked, Squeebles bravely tried to protect his new companions and was crushed into the ground by the Bloodhowler’s glaive. Nelda was devastated (Session 17) and grieved him for days.
Squeebles’ spirit seemed to possess Kip’s voodoo doll, which deeply disturbed Nelda (Session 22). When a scarab swarm left Nelda dying in the sewers, the doll glowed green and she met Squeebles in a liminal space. He told her she could return to the living, or he could take her place. She chose to live, and after a heartfelt goodbye he faded away, leaving the doll lifeless (Session 24).
