Type: Island city · Known for: casinos, the Silent Vaults · Notable residents: Ibeesee (deceased); formerly Escher Reverie

In Campaign 1

The first heist

The party sailed here on the Rootbeer Float after escaping Beerlia. They met Ibeesee, the mother of Captain Barqs’s child, and decided to steal the Brumestone core from her vault. They fought through many guards, an elementary-school-level puzzle, a shadow, and a gelatinous cube, and carried the core off in a portable hole. Oolong also found the Muffin Button in Ibeesee’s vault (C1 Chapter 04).

The return

After The Collector’s death, the Cacklers came looking for the Rootbeer Float again. In a casino tavern they fought ten Rose Ribbon Army soldiers, and Terra Misu, thrown through the casino window by a giant ape Oolong, killed Captain Rootbeard in the street. They wrecked Ibeesee’s room, freed Barqs and his crew from the cellar, and learned Ibeesee was trading the ship to the army for her son, Joey.

With Goku leading a diversion out front, the Cacklers went back into the Silent Vaults. A door that remembered them (“You guys thought we would do the same puzzle as last time”) opened only to the “Interrupting cow” joke. At the end, a controlled Ibeesee killed Joey, then, realizing what she had done, killed herself. The Cacklers found model ships sealed in bottles, one of which burst back to full size and smashed through the lockers (C1 Chapter 09).

Escher’s years here

Escher left his family’s farm in Beerlia at 15, after a prank on his younger brother Wren nearly killed the boy. He told his family he was moving to Scotch on the Rocks to “help sell the family alcohol.” His eldest brother, Rhylan, had a condo in the island’s largest casino and was engaged to a dealer at one of its casinos, but Escher soon preferred the streets to Rhylan’s penthouse and Rhylan’s girlfriend.

One night he found a shell game run by a loud dealer and found the ball 27 times in a row until the dealer gave up. A young rogue named Thadeous sat down in his place and told Escher he knew a better use for the trick. Escher joined Thadeous’s crowd, which later became the Tequila Gang, and moved into a flat with most of them. They ran card scams and street dice games on tourists, then moved on to pickpocketing.

It fell apart when Thadeous decided the gang needed a famous blacksmith’s tool to start making weapons. The six of them broke into the shop, and the blacksmith caught them. Thadeous beat the old man senseless and set the shop on fire. The next day’s paper quoted the blacksmith: “That Reverie boy that’s always tricking people on the street was one of them.” Escher left a note for his brother Lyric, went to the docks, and took the first ship that would carry him anywhere else.
