Quick facts
Race/Class: Fire genasi sorcerer · Party: The FAM (joined Session 80) · Home: Beerlia · Faction: The Free Pour · Campaign 1: ally of The Cacklers, with Vath · Status: Alive (as of C2 Session 83)

Masha is a fire genasi sorcerer from Beerlia and a fighter in The Free Pour, a resistance against the Velvet Truffle Company. The FAM freed her from a vat in Dr. Wheelo’s lab beneath Coghaven, and she joined them while she tries to learn what happened to her crew. Twenty years earlier, in Campaign 1, she and Vath helped Terra Misu Umber and fought beside The Cacklers against The Collector.
Background
The Free Pour works with the Beerlia families who refuse to sell to the VTC, which counts the island as part of Seraphina Rusk’s Islands Dominion. Masha was captured in early Fessuran during an operation in which a VTC ship was set on fire; she had trouble getting out and was taken. On the VTC prisoner ship, Gravy Bones came aboard to oversee the transfer, and Masha overheard that Kenton Rusk had been killed at Hamhock Harbor. Her last memory before Coghaven was being in Beerlia, possibly setting something on fire, and then being transported. She does not know whether her friends are alive. Among them is Keira Ashby, the cutter captain who sailed her team out to the burning ship. Masha never saw whether Keira made it back.
History
Campaign 1: Terra and the Collector
Masha traveled with Vath, an earth genasi. Whether they were related or partners was never made clear. After the Greatest Below the Heavens tournament, when Terra Misu Umber swapped places with Sophie and went to work for The Collector, Masha and Vath helped Terra and the Gem Amethyst on the job she was running for him in Beerlia. It ended with them chasing Max the Andalite, transformed to look like Oolong, through a portal and into The FeyWild (C1 Chapter 08).
The Collector later collected Masha and Vath from the FeyWild to help him fight The Cacklers. They went through his teleport to the fire plane and turned on him, helping the Cacklers defeat him. In the fight, the Collector cursed Vath the same way he had cursed Greene and others. Masha and Vath traveled with the Cacklers to Scotch on the Rocks and went their separate ways there (C1 Chapter 09). Vath never had the curse lifted, and he died of it aboard a ship back to Beerlia.
Coghaven (Sessions 78–80)
The FAM freed Masha from a vat in Dr. Wheelo’s research station. Wheelo’s assistant, Dr. Kochin, insisted she had been “legally delivered” by one of their trade partners. When Wheelo’s brain-tank rose on mechanical legs and attacked, Masha, finally with something to aim twenty years of rage at, told the brain to “dodge this” and burned it to ash in its boiling tank. She then cornered the fleeing assistant, who bluffed that he had planted a bomb in her head before begging for mercy. She used arcane eye to look inside the VTC’s crate of volatile crystals in Bay 4, and her charm person failed against The Gnoloo.
Masha told the party she was from Beerlia, where the VTC was spreading, and that she had formed the Free Pour before a job went wrong. She recognized Escher as one of the Reverie siblings, mentioned that his sister Lyra had been helping the Free Pour, and said the Reverie Family was holding strong against the company. She agreed to stay with the party until she could learn what happened to her crew. Her pass without trace got everyone out of the KrawlMart warehouse in Udon Heights, and when she mentioned Kenton Rusk’s death, Escher admitted he was the one who killed him.
The gallows (Sessions 81–83)
Masha watched Wilbur and Nelda question Cabba, still trying to work out how everyone in the group was related. Wilbur told Bran she was now the sixth member of the FAM. At the gallows she murmured a spell that shook the earth and conjured a brown dragon. She reappeared in the air in front of Khalor, who greeted her with “welcome back” and pummeled her until her shield cracked. A cushion of magic caught her just before she hit the docks. She looked at Wilbur and told him he was “too hot to die this quick.” Khalor sneered at her “pretender of a dragon” and nearly destroyed it with his breath.
Masha dismissed her dragon before it could be taken and ringed Khalor in a wall of fire, forgetting in the moment that gold dragons are immune to fire. She used a mage hand to wrench the detention orb holding Catman out of Daask Bruiser’s grip. Back at the Mercenary’s Rest, the party praised her for her dragon.
