Type: Port town · Notable event: Escher’s assassination of Kenton Rusk

Hamhock Harbor is a port town two days’ sail from Bellyport. It is where Escher assassinated the VTC’s Cocoa Consul of Chonkerton, Kenton Rusk.

History

The party arrived in Session 39 and found that Escher had gone missing. Kip, dressed as Sherlock Holmes, led an investigation. They learned that a man had recently bought a book titled Furnace of the Mind from a local shopkeeper named Nymphodora Clay. Kip’s “impressive detective work,” including dusting for fingerprints (Wilbur did it), showed that the buyer wore a ring with the Velvet Truffle Company logo. Then Arghen spotted a dragon in the distance and set off after it, and the others followed.

Meanwhile Escher, acting on a note a stranger had slipped into his pocket during the visit to the Gilded Minnow, killed a high-ranking VTC member with a poison-tipped arrow. He took a ring that served as a company seal and two documents. When he rejoined the party, he told them he believed Khalor worked for the VTC.

The party nearly gave Escher away at the Split Sausage Pub, where a patron overheard someone ask, “Escher, did you kill somebody?” and left in a hurry. The party set sail for Buttermere. That patron’s anonymous tip led the VTC to stop their ship in a blockade in Session 40.
