The party arrived under a drizzly, overcast sky (Session 40). The local tavern served only biscuits and various liquids, with a strict “bring your own meat” policy. Cliffs stand outside town.

History

Arrival (Session 41)

Arghen got so fed up with the menu that he left and came back with a wild boar he had killed in the city. Wilbur found a poster for Breadstock, a regional battle of the bands the next day, and declared they would enter as “The FAM Band.” The group also talked about getting band tattoos, and Arghen offered to design a “dead dragon” tattoo.

Escher used the code phrase “I heard there’s a private tasting in the cellar tonight” to meet a woman from the Pale Fang, who paid him for the assassination and gave him the codename “Smoke.”

Arghen’s informant, a paranoid man, said a gold-scaled figure had landed on the cliffs two nights earlier and made the rocks glow. He had also seen a tall, unnaturally skinny merchant with gold eyes and a “voice like a furnace” talking with VTC members. As the party headed for the cliffs, Arghen saw VTC members walking up the gangplank of their ship.

Breadstock (Session 42)

Gravy Bones and his men boarded the ship and asked about Kenton Rusk, Tobias Blackwood, and someone named “Escher.” Escher later played an oblivious teenager called “Ernest,” and Ellery and Nelda scared the men off the ship.

At Breadstock, The FAM Band placed third. A musician named Verio Nightwind (Cedric Lightharbor Jr.) played Nelda a song he had written about her.

The cliffs (Session 43)

On the cliffs, a VTC member reported to the gold dragon that seven eggs were involved in a successful experiment, six showing signs of life. Arghen confronted the dragon, who took his true form, burned Ellery and Kip, and flew off. When VTC guards found the party hiding in the bushes, Escher shot one through the temple, and the party fled through the streets to their ship.
