Quick facts

The party needed a way off Beerlia. They found one in Oolong’s old pirate crew and the Rootbeer Float, but the escape cost Elyon her sister. On Scotch on the Rocks they robbed the Silent Vaults and came away with a Brumestone core and the Muffin Button.

Ashryn

The party traveled northwest across the island, avoiding patrols. Max the Andalite found them again and said he had been in contact with another Rose Ribbon Army defector who could help them leave. The defector met them on cliffs above a destroyed port city. It was Ashryn, Elyon’s sister. She had joined the army in a misguided bid for revenge against Elyon, but once she saw the army’s horrors and goals she had gone AWOL in Beerlia. She knew of a ship in the harbor the party could use.

Elyon and Ashryn traded some unpleasant words, then slowly started to make amends and work together.

The crew of the Rootbeer Float

Sneaking into the port, the party passed the local jail and heard prisoners starving in their cages. Inside they found a group of pirates: the same crew Oolong had sailed with before Captain Rootbeard and his men captured him. The Crew of the Rootbeer Float cheered when they saw Oolong and sang a shanty in his honor. The party, a little hesitantly, let them out.

On the way out, the few soldiers left guarding the port ambushed them. In the chaos an assassin leapt from a roof and drove a poisoned blade into Ashryn’s back, killing her in front of the party. The assassin got away inland. The party boarded the Rootbeer Float and set sail for Scotch on the Rocks.

Joey’s trial

During the voyage the party found a goblin hiding on board. His name was Joey, he was part of the original crew, and he was Captain Barqs’s son. He had escaped capture because he had made a deal to hand the ship to the Rose Ribbon Army in exchange for money and a place in the army.

The party and crew held a trial on deck and found Joey guilty of treason and mutiny. His sentence was banishment. Elyon flew him on her Flying Nimbus to Takkoh and left him at an inn. While there she overheard her former teacher, Master Crane, talking about the Greatest Below the Heavens tournament, to be held in North City on the 1st of Horisal.

Robbing the Silent Vaults

Elyon rejoined the party and they landed on Scotch on the Rocks. There they met Ibeesee, the mother of Barqs’s child, and decided to steal the Brumestone core hidden in her vault.

Her vault sat in the Silent Vaults, a heavily secured set of vaults just off the shore that the island’s elite used. The party went in hard. They killed a lot of guards (many of them beheaded by Terra Misu Umber), solved a puzzle fit for an elementary school, and fought a shadow, a gelatinous cube, and the rest of the security. In the end they got the Brumestone core into a portable hole that Juliette had bought after the job with Meo.

While they were in Ibeesee’s vault, Oolong also found an extremely rare magical item: the Muffin Button.

With the core in hand, the party made their escape and set sail for the Ranchinian Peninsula.
