Quick facts
Campaign: Campaign 2 · Session: 36 of 83 · Arc: Khalor and the Company at Sea · Where: The Gilded Minnow; aboard the C.P.H.
The group visited the Gilded Minnow and found, to their surprise, that it held several shops. First was a pet store run by a mysterious hooded figure named Mr. Bitterbeak, who sold exotic, nautical-themed animals, including a “snarl fin kitten,” a cross between a cat and a small reef shark. Some of the group questioned buying a pet on a cruise, but Nelda was intrigued and bought the creature for 100 gold. Next was a joke shop called Nautical Nonsense, where the shopkeeper showed off items like a “Blade of Woe” and a “glove of spontaneous applause.” Kip, drawn to the novelty, bought a bag of “endless confetti” for 20 gold. As the FAM left, a stranger bumped into Escher and slipped a note into his pocket, leaving him to wonder whether he had a fan or a stalker.
Later the group gathered to identify several potions Wilbur had acquired. Their effects ranged from dramatic to dangerous. Among them were one that granted long-lasting invisibility but was highly addictive, and one that let the drinker jump four times higher. They also identified an “elixir of mint” that granted a frost breath attack, and a controversial potion from Arlia that swaps a person’s gender. Looking for action, the party found a casual fighting pit, and Ellery promptly stepped into the ring against a tall elf. She won decisively, knocking him out with a punch to the face.
For dinner, the dwarven cook Rock prepared a big feast of what he called traditional dwarven food: burritos, salsa, guacamole, and tamales. Most of the group enjoyed it, but Kip was brutal, calling it “disgusting” and suggesting it had been teleported from the “plane of regret.” The others tried to smooth things over, but the mood soured. Arghen, however, complimented the meal in what seemed to be Dwarvish and praised the stew, saying it made him feel part of something bigger than himself.
