Perfect Cell is the being who threatened to destroy Arlia unless the world’s champions could beat him in combat. He was built from the DNA of The Cacklers, and they destroyed him at the tournament he called, the Cell Games. His story is told in Campaign 1.5.

History

Campaign 1.5

Cell woke after sleeping for about twenty years, “understandably hungry.” He drained whole towns through his tail, starting with Ginger Town in the Crepe Republic, leaving only neatly discarded clothes, each with a ragged circular hole near the spine. When The Cacklers found him dragging a man down an alley, he drank the man in front of them, copied a kamehameha back at them, asked after “our cousins,” and invited Greene to join him: “Why do you fight it, Greene?” Once he absorbed 17 and 18, he said, he would be perfect. A scrying later caught him lost at a crossroads, flirting with Paprika Town (C1.5 Chapter 01, C1.5 Chapter 02).

In the Tabasco Forest, disguised as 18, he let the Cacklers rescue him from an owlbear and lead him to 17. Then his barbed tail burst out of “her” back and engulfed 17, and Perfect Cell emerged singing his name one letter at a time. He called Terra his mother, said he was made of all the Cacklers’ DNA “with a little extra thrown in here or there of some of your messes you’ve left around,” and told Belle Pepper she wasn’t on the list. He nearly cut Ruby down with a kienzan, then spared them all, because “the whole world needs to see what you’ve created.” Over the radio he listed the towns he had absorbed and announced the Cell Games, sponsored by Heatap (C1.5 Chapter 02).

At the Games he spawned seven Cell Juniors, fought invisible, rained meteors, and killed Master Toshi. Belle Pepper’s lightning hurt him more than anyone ever had, and later blew him apart, but he reformed: “You think you could get rid of me that easily?” Terra cut him down and Elyon’s kienzan carved every atom of his body so he could not come back. Afterward the Cacklers used the Star Orbs to wish back everyone Cell had killed and absorbed, including Toshi, 17 and 18, and the people of the towns he had taken (C1.5 Chapter 03).

Campaign 2

The FAM first heard of him at an inn halfway between Brinewick Hollow and the Saline Coast, over a new device called a radio. A being calling itself Perfect Cell announced a tournament, the Cell Games, to be held at the North City Coliseum in ten days. If the world’s champions could not defeat him, he would destroy the planet. The party reached the Saline Coast with eight days left and had to weigh Kip’s legal troubles against the survival of the world.

In North City, the Cacklers grew worried about the timing of a string of thefts. Five of the seven Star Orbs had already been stolen around the world in the lead-up to the tournament.

At the Cell Games, the announcer declared Cell defeated, with Terra Misu, Sophie, Greene and Elyon left standing. The fate of the other fighters is unknown. They vanished from the battlefield.
