Quick facts
Inventor: Wilbur · Sold as: “Oddities, trinkets, odds and ends, bits and bobs”
Wilbur is a tinkerer who sells his own inventions. His clan once dismissed his tinkering as a “useless talent,” but his gadgets have saved The FAM many times, and one of them started the conspiracy that defined the party’s first month.
Known inventions
- “Scarecrow” smoke-and-noise ball: A custom device built to scare birds, which Wilbur sold in Session 1.
- The smoke bomb: A smoke bomb device Wilbur sold to someone who signed his ledger “Tobias B.” It was hurled at Cedric Lightharbor’s stage in what looked like an assassination attempt (Session 2), which led to the arrest of Tobias Bigsby. The real buyer was Tobias Blackwood, who dropped one of Wilbur’s smoke bombs to cover his escape after stabbing Wilbur (Session 29). In Coghaven, Ellery threw Wilbur’s smoke device into the Chancellor’s council chamber (Session 75).
- Light pebbles: Magical glowing pebbles, which Wilbur traded to Kip for turnips.
- Metal flowers: Metallic flowers that never die. In Coghaven, Wilbur learned that the metal flower is the emblem of the gnome resistance, the Black Parade, and Gen Way demanded to know where he got one, because it was just like “his” (Session 73).
- Toy lightswords: Toy swords that make a copyrighted sound. Kip killed an escaped wolf with one.
- Laser pistol: Wilbur’s sidearm. He killed Eldon Reed with it and later lent it to Otto.
- Clan defenses: Defensive devices built to help the Warhorde Clan hold their camp against the Bloodhowler (Session 19).
- Forged rose: A magically forged rose he gave Bulma Briefs (Session 66).
- Tracking bugs: After taking apart the VTC’s Asset Songbird, Wilbur learned enough to build his own versions (Session 72).
- Slowing device: Wilbur salvaged parts from a slowing construct in the Coghaven forge and loaded them into the pistol Bulma gave him, which let him slow Dr. Wheelo (Session 77–78).
- Mechanical bee: A tiny mechanical bee Wilbur sent buzzing into Khalor’s face to break his concentration (Session 82).

Homunculus servant
Wilbur keeps a homunculus servant. It warned him that someone was coming while he was inside Salt Spun Manor (Session 11), and after his death it activated its “death protocol,” which included showing The FAM his farewell letters, much to his embarrassment (Session 32).
