Quick facts

Race: Gnome · Faction: Black Parade · Home: Coghaven · Family: Goric (brother), Wilbur Crushmore (nephew) · Status: Alive (as of C2 Session 83)

Gen Way is a member of the Black Parade, the gnome resistance in Coghaven, and the sister of Wilbur’s father, Goric. She is blunt, grieving, and not impressed by her nephew.

History

After the Black Parade pulled The FAM away from Coghaven’s security droids, Gen told Wilbur he had all but announced himself as a terrorist by handing a resistance flower to the city’s liaison. When Wilbur produced another flower, she demanded to know where he got it, because it was just like “his.” She raged that they had waited years because Goric said it would make a difference, and that if Wilbur was the difference, they were doomed. She then revealed that Wilbur was Goric’s boy, that Goric had died during a raid on the forge, and that she blamed herself for his death. In fact Goric had been captured on that raid, taken to the forge, and ended up in Dr. Wheelo’s vats; the party found him in a vat labeled “expired” (Session 78).

When the Black Parade and the party moved out together and drones ambushed them, Gen realized it was a setup and demanded to know whether everyone had ditched their bracelets. The leak was never settled.

The Black Parade staged the explosion that drew Coghaven’s security away from the Rotunda. When the machines went dark, the party found her as the sole survivor at the site, sitting shell-shocked with Franco Yero’s body in her arms. Bram Briar, Rya Toran and Mekel Way lay dead around her.

At the independence celebration, Gen shoved Wilbur aside to tell the crowd that “this idiot and his friends” had taken advantage of a distraction that cost the Black Parade nearly all of their lives, then went to bed. Later Wilbur comforted her, telling her she had done her best and that Goric would be proud. She told him Goric had loved him very much and had known him as Cedric, a family name passed down through generations. She also told him about Goric’s last mission through Packaging, Shipping & Logistics to the hidden teleportation bay.
