Quick facts

Race: Halfling · Home: Green Hollow · Family: Father of Alana Elmheart · Faction: Leader of the Cult of Brandoboris · Status: Dead (Session 54)

Sawyer Elmheart was a powerful farmer in Green Hollow, Alana Elmheart’s father, and secretly the leader of a halfling cult of Brandoboris.

History

Sawyer had fallen out of faith with the goddess Cyrollellee to worship Brandoboris, the halfling god of trickery and mayhem. He grew Ghostpetal Turnipbloom, a rare toxic plant, on a sequestered parcel of the family farm and sold it to a buyer in Brinewick Hollow, Judge Marius Vellum, who dealt with the Velvet Truffle Company. His journal laid out a plot to seize control of the region’s turnip exports. He used his daughter in his schemes, including the magical marriage contract that bound Kip to Alana.

When the FAM arrived in Green Hollow during the Cornucopia festival, Sawyer looked on in amusement as Kip failed to undo the contract, confident it would hold (Session 51). When the party moved to confront him in the Farmer’s Hoe, horrid plants burst from the kitchen. Ellery grappled him, but time glitched and she was left holding only his severed left hand. Kip, struck down by ghost petals, was carried off (Session 52).

The party tracked Sawyer to the ruins of the Temple of Cyrollellee. There he stunned Nelda and Escher with psychic magic until Nelda caught him in a cloud of daggers. As he begged for his life, Brandoboris appeared to mock him and was chased away by Cyrollellee for violating a divine agreement, and Sawyer’s body collapsed lifeless to the floor (Session 54). The party took his gold and a talisman of Brandoboris, then cleared his office of a mimic and found a ledger of ghost-petal shipments and his journal (Session 55). Escher and Wilbur later planted a forged letter from Sawyer at the scene of Judge Vellum’s murder.
