Campaign: Campaign 2 · Session: 53 of 83 · Arc: Green Hollow and the Cult of Brandoboris · Where: Green Hollow; the Temple of Cyrollellee

While the rest of the party pressed into the old Temple of Cyrollellee, Arghen stayed behind at the Farmer’s Hoe tavern to defend Green Hollow from an infestation of “horrid plants,” grotesque cabbage-like creatures. He cleaved through them with his axe and cleared the building.

Inside the ruins, the others passed a defaced baptismal pool and a series of traps, including a deep pit that Wilbur fell into and was badly hurt. In one chamber they were ambushed by four halfling cultists of the Cult of Brandoboris, Pella, Tibbon, Brindle, and Hob, who opened fire with eldritch magic.

A fierce skirmish followed in the cramped room. Escher took heavy fire from eldritch blasts, ducked behind a coffin, and returned fire with his crossbow while Wilbur gave supporting fire. Nelda struck Hob with a blinding smite from her glaive. Ellery deflected incoming bolts and eventually slammed Tibbon against the corner of a coffin, killing her. In the middle of the chaos, Escher experienced another blip in time in which the god Brandoboris briefly appeared, laughed at his failing cultists, and vanished. The party subdued the rest, sparing Pella for questioning. The captive revealed that Sawyer was hiding deeper in the temple behind a magically sealed door with a color puzzle.

Arghen rejoined the group at the ruins after finishing his defense of the village. They checked a supply room full of crates of the same purple-leaved plants found in Kip’s glove, and identified them as Ghostpetal Turnipbloom meant for a retired judge named Vellum. Determined to find their friend, they pushed through a heavy stone door into a dark, narrow hallway. Then they heard something heavy lumbering toward them out of the shadows, along with the screech of a blade being dragged across the stone floor.
