Quick facts
Campaign: Campaign 2 · Session: 6 of 83 · Arc: The Festival Conspiracy · Where: Saline Coast
The group went shopping, starting at the Mariner’s Armory. Kip, who had been stabbed a lot lately, haggled his way into a new set of mithral armor and a shield. Wilbur tried to sell a magic cloak, but the shopkeeper, Mavis, lowballed him until he pointed out how flammable her shop was. She then identified it as a halfling-sized Cloak of Protection. At the potion shop, run by a young woman whose voice had been permanently damaged in a potion accident, they stocked up on healing potions after a short, silly debate about whether smaller people get more healing from a standard dose.
Wanting answers, Wilbur led the group to the Grand Guard House to speak with Captain Eric Stormshield about Bigsby’s arrest. Stormshield said the arrest rested on more than Wilbur’s testimony and told them to stop investigating, since the matter was complicated and they could make it worse. When Wilbur mentioned bandits talking about someone with the initials “E.R.,” Stormshield became even firmer and refused to let Wilbur speak with Bigsby. The group left convinced he was covering something up.
Back at their lodgings, they learned of an upcoming formal ball for vendors and government officials, which looked like the perfect place for “clandestine meetings.” Kip read a job posting about valuable artifacts going missing from the Saline Coast Museum in a suspected inside job, but the group agreed that was not their mystery. Another posting, about a haunted bakery, started an argument over whether ghosts exist, with Ellery firmly insisting they aren’t real. At the bakery, an oven exploded, knocking Kip unconscious and throwing the group into another fight.
