Quick facts
Campaign: Campaign 2 · Session: 7 of 83 · Arc: The Festival Conspiracy · Where: Saline Coast
After surviving the explosion at the Sweet Crust Bakery, the group learned the owner had received a cursed recipe book from an anonymous sender. The handwriting resembled a burnt note found at the murdered journalist Isabella Thorne’s home, tying the seemingly random magical attacks to the larger conspiracy. They also learned that Garrick, the armorer at the Mariner’s Armory, had received an anonymous anvil. Fearing what might happen if they waited, they went to warn him before resting.
The string of near-death experiences was wearing on them, and a tense talk followed about whether they worked as a team. Kip, knocked unconscious three times in a short span, said he was exhausted, and pointed out that Ellery had been too dazed to read a letter.
At the armory they found the dwarven smith Garrick dead with a dagger in his chest. As they took in the scene, the dagger tore itself out of the body and attacked, starting a terrifying battle against animated weapons. Kip and Wilbur tried to flee while Ellery held her ground until the weapons knocked her out. A city guard who tried to help was killed. The party was on the edge of a total wipeout when Catman intervened and saved them.
